Giving an AI assistant a company lookup tool
An assistant that has to check a company should read it from a register, not recall it from memory. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) gives it a standard way to call such a tool.
What to return to the model
A useful tool answer tells the model more than the name:
- Status, so that it does not treat a dissolved company as active.
- The source and the retrieval time, so that it can say where the answer came from.
- A clear error when a register is down, so that it does not guess.
Connect EntityFeed
Get a free key on the home page, then add the server to a client that supports remote HTTP servers:
{
"mcpServers": {
"entityfeed": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://entityfeed.com/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ef_YOUR_KEY" }
}
}
}
initialize and tools/list work without a key. Tool calls need one.
